The Huawei Nova Y74 is a 4G smartphone with a 6.67-inch 90Hz display, a 6620mAh battery, 40W wired charging and a 50MP main camera. It suits students, office workers and everyday users who want a phone that lasts long between charges. My first impression is that this phone is built around battery and display comfort, not flashy extras. It looks like a practical choice for daily social media, video and calls.

Huawei Nova Y74 Design and Build

The phone has a flat-frame design with a plastic back. It comes in Black and Blue. The glass on the front is Gorilla Glass, and the listing mentions SGS 5-Star drop-resistance certification.

At 8.32mm thick and 210 grams, it is a bit heavy. That is normal for a phone with a big battery. You will feel the weight in one hand, but the flat edges give a steady grip.

Display

The screen is a 6.67-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution (720x1604) and a 20:9 shape. A punch-hole cutout holds the selfie camera, and the screen takes up about 84.3% of the front.

The 90Hz refresh rate makes scrolling through Facebook, Messenger and YouTube feel smoother than on a standard 60Hz screen. Peak brightness is 850 nits, which should help when you are outside in daylight. The pixel density is 264 ppi, so text will not be as sharp as on a Full HD screen.

Huawei Nova Y74 Performance and Gaming

The phone has 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. That is a comfortable amount of space for apps, photos and downloaded videos. USB OTG is supported, so you can plug in a pen drive.

On paper, 8GB RAM should keep several apps open without constant reloading. The listing does not name the chipset, so I will not guess at gaming performance. Going by the specs, I would expect light games and daily apps to run fine, and real results will vary with usage.

Summary: Good memory and storage for daily use, but gaming performance is not confirmed.

Huawei Nova Y74 Camera

The rear camera is a single 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, autofocus and an LED flash. It supports HDR, face detection and touch to focus. Video recording goes up to 1080p at 30fps.

The 8MP selfie camera (f/2.0) records 1080p video at 30fps. That is enough for video calls on WhatsApp or Messenger and for casual profile photos. There is no second rear lens, so do not expect a separate wide or zoom camera.

Summary: A simple one-camera setup that suits social media photos and video calls.

Battery and Charging

The 6620mAh Li-Ion battery is the main highlight of this phone. Most budget phones carry a battery of around 5000mAh, so this one is noticeably larger. Wired charging is 40W, and the listing says it reaches 53% in 30 minutes.

The phone also supports 5W reverse wired charging. You can use it to top up earbuds or a smartwatch in an emergency. For long days out or load shedding at home, this combination of a big battery and fast charging is useful. Real battery life will depend on screen time and signal strength.

Summary: A large battery with quick wired charging is the strongest part of this phone.

Software and Connectivity

The phone runs EMUI 12. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, GPS with Glonass, VoLTE and a USB Type-C port. It has dual Nano SIM slots, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and face unlock.

This is a 4G phone, with no 5G support. If you want 5G, you can compare it with the Realme P4 Lite 5G. Before buying in Bangladesh, check the SIM variant and confirm network support with your operator.
